For their Symposium conference in Orlando, Sitecore wanted a fun way to engage guests and allow them to create a highly personalized and shareable takeaway. Gen City Labs created an app that did just that. Using a custom built local Neural Network, GCL created a self-guided app that allowed guests to snap photos of themselves, choose a style and then watch as their portraits were transformed into works of art.
The technique, which is called Neural Style Transfer, uses deep learning (a form of Artificial Intelligence) to intelligently create a unique image combining the ‘content’ image (i.e., guest’s photo) with a ‘style’ image (i.e., predetermined artistic image). The results were stunning and guests were thrilled to participate, often returning several times to explore each style. Onsite printing allowed guests to receive a physical takeaway within moments of their portrait being completed. Additionally, guests could receive a digital version via email which could be instantly shared to social media allowing the portraits to be shared to art critics around the world.
