Game of Thrones
Fun at Comic-Con
Game of Thrones Fans lined up around the block over a period of 3 days to participate in exclusive original experiences that Gen City Labs created for HBO at Comic-Con.
GCL developed three experiences to help HBO kick off Game of Thrones Season 7:
- A 3D modeled and animated White Raven projected onto a Hologauze Weirwood Tree
- North of the Wall: A “survive-as-long-as-you-can” Wight-killing game that ends with a photo of you as a Wight
- Winterfell: Act as Jon Snow (or your own version of the King -or Queen- of the North) in a clip from the show and share it with all your friends.
For the “North of the Wall” game, GCL deployed Vive VR trackers with fabricated Dragonglass daggers attached to them for guests to slash away at the Wights, “fruit ninja” style. These Vive trackers were a great sensor solution, as we needed a stable and intuitive solution that would not be interfered by with such heavy guest and media foot traffic in our 5-station footprint. Guests competed with each other and even themselves to earn the high score of surviving the longest.
Sir Davos himself came through the activations as a fun surprise for guests who had waited so long for their exclusive Game of Thrones experience.
