Gen City Labs is a multidisciplinary experiential design and production studio. Our teams work across creative, engineering, software, fabrication, project management, and tech operations to deliver immersive retail environments and large-scale interactive experiences for global brands.
We operate end to end. Ideas are designed, engineered, fabricated, integrated, and operated by teams who understand how things get built and deployed in the real world.

Position Title
Technical Designer
About the Company
We are a growing technology integration company based in Portland, Oregon. Our focus is the physical integration of digital technology — “Where digital meets physical.” We are a small team collaborating closely to do amazing things together.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design and build mechanical systems for installation art, interactive products, and spatial interfaces
- Work fluently across CAD tools like SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, Grasshopper, and CATIA
- Fabricate prototypes using CNC machining, laser cutting, 3D printing, woodworking, and cabinetry
- Collaborate with artists, designers, engineers, developers, vendors, and cross-disciplinary teams
- Bridge cultural and technical gaps in projects involving Asian clients or partners
- Occasionally travel for installations or on-site work
Qualifications
- 8–10 years experience
- Advanced degree in mechanical engineering and/or design
- Experience in installation art, media art, or exhibition environments
- Strong command of GD&T, DFM, and DFA
- Deep experience in 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, and woodworking
- Native-level or higher Korean language proficiency
